Hypnosis Superior to Willpower for Bad Habit Elimination

by Michelle DeStefano
Hypnosis is the efficient way to change bad habits into good ones. Here are a few common examples of the self-talk people may have toward wanting to change habits:

“I know smoking is bad for me, so I’ll just have to use my willpower and make myself stop.” “I know I would look and feel so much better if I would eat less and exercise regularly.  I’ll have to use my willpower to make myself start.” “My procrastination is starting to have a negative effect on my life. I’ll have to use my willpower to force myself to do things that I should be getting done.”

In the quest for self-improvement, many people tend to employ willpower. This may succeed for a short time, but willpower is much like the muscle fibers used for sprint running. It will move a person in the right direction fast, but soon putters out. Willpower is short-lived because, in order to change bad habits into good, new neurological pathways in the brain must be formed, and without hypnosis, this can take a long time. Here is the science behind that fact:

Willpower is a function of the conscious mind which is controlled by about 10 to 12 percent of brain power. Without hypnosis, one can adopt a new habit, but it usually takes about three weeks. Three weeks of a continuous practice begins to form new neurological pathways in the brain—a default place in the subconscious mind for a new habit. But most people’s willpower is long gone by then.

The subconscious mind is controlled in the rest of the brain, 88 to 90 percent of brain power, and it is the subconscious mind that rules one’s beliefs, attitudes and habits. Hypnosis is the faster and more effective way to change habits because hypnosis communicates directly with the subconscious mind, by-passing the conscious mind and the need to struggle with willpower.

So when it comes to changing bad habits or adopting new useful habits, get the advantage. Consider hypnosis to help you succeed.
